Acadamy Awards:10 of the funniest, weirdest and the wonderful moments from the Oscars

The award season has once again come to an end <insert slow sigh>,but it has most definitely finished with a bang.  From  Jennifer Lawrence falling all over the place,John Travolta inventing a new performer of  the song  "Let it Go" through to  Ellen handing out pizzas to the hungry looking celebs and then taking twitter crashing selfies the 86th Academy Awards were full of excitement, glamour and most importantly celebration of yet another year of fantastic and unforgettable movies.

Therefore,if for unknown reasons you did not stay up until 5a.m to watch all of it(walk away in shame)here are the best moments from the Oscars:

1)  Olivia Wilde made everyone stare in jealousy and awe on the red carpet and demonstrated how to properly show off a baby bump with style and class in a stunning Valentino gown, arm in arm with her fiancĂ©  Jason Sudeikis.

2)Jimmy Kimmel tried to make Oscar tweeters feel remorseful and guilty for watching and judging in pj's and mismatching socks surrounded by snacks

3). Jennifer Lawrence fell.Again.And before the ceremony has even began! But by now it has to be considered as somewhat a tradition, and as we all know traditions have to be kept.

4)Ellen attempted to feed all the starving celebrities and bought 2 pizzas. It took her approximately 4 minutes of screen time to find volunteers. Ah only in Hollywood...

6).She then took a celeb-full selfie in an attempt to break a record for the most retweets.More succesively than anticipated by the twitter programmers, with more than 2.5k retweets has crashed the whole server.

6)John Travolta made a  small  pronunciation error in the name of Idina Menzel introducing her as Adele Dazim. It happpens, right?

7) "Frozen" won two Academy Awards! One for the best animated feature and later another one for the best song "Let it Go" performed by the wonderful and talented Adele Dazim Idina Menzel.

8).Lupita Nyong'o received a well deserved Oscar for the best actress in a supporting role and stole the hearts of the audience by giving an inspiring acceptance speech about the importance of following your dreams.

9). Matthew Mcconaughey took home  arguably the most prestigious award of the night, receiving his first Oscar for his exceptional lead role in the Dallas Buyers Club, but made a bizzare speech about being his own hero which got a mixed reviews from the crowd and most likely crushed Leonardo DiCaprio even more.

10).Lastly, the most important event of the night:Leonardo DiCaprio did not win an Oscar! This caused shock and tears for all the fans but on the bright side it has also led to some incredibly funny gifs.

Here are a few of the best:

Don't worry Leo ,there is always next year!

Did you guess all the winners?
What was your favourite moment of this years Oscars?

I'm Back! New year resolution and what's to come in 2014

\
Hello!
First of all I am sorry for such a long absence but the good news is I am now officially back! :)

2013 was a busy year and unfortunately I didn't get to share many of the film reviews I wanted to, which I am genuinely gutted about.

Therefore, I have decided that my 2014 year resolution has to be to review more must-watch,amazing and mind blowing films as well as give reviews of  the possibly avoid/run away kind of films. I  will also continue to share with you all the latest movie news and gossip.

There is also a second, more personal resolution which I am really excited about and want to share with you! I've decided that by the end of 2014 I will watch all of the 250 films ranked as "Top 250 movies" on  the IMDB website. You may think it's a little bit crazy but I am not great with declining chocolate or going to the gym so.... wish me luck and fingers crossed!

I will of course keep you updated about my progress and try to review as many of the films as possible.

That's it for now,but let me know what you think of this idea and if you have any comments or suggestions then feel free to email me at :justfilmastic@gmail.com

To another great year filled with awesome films!

The Big Wedding:Review

If you are looking for a film that will be:amusing, relaxing and will include many familiar faces.

Length: 89 minutes (2013)
Type: Comedy
My rating (out of 10):6
One Word description:Entertaining

Overview: A divorced couple must pretend to be married for the weekend to avoid their adopted son's very traditional and religious biological mother finding out before his wedding.

Sum-up of what to expect:
  • Well known and suitably chosen actors which make the characters genuine.
  • A romantic and  funny story plot but not developed enough so that some scenes seems unneeded and unreasonable.
  • A fantastic, hilarious performance by Robert De Niro
  •  A film full of witty and memorable quotes
  • Lighthearted story about love and family relationships
Here's the trailer:

Conclusion:An amusing and lighthearted romance which doesn't have much action in it but will be able to put anyone in a good mood.

Would I watch it again? As a solution for boredom.

Spring Breakers:Review

If you are looking for a film that will be:inconclusive, frustrating and tiresome

Type:Drama (2012)
Length: 94 minutes
My rating (out of 10):3
One word description:Senseless

Overview: A group of teenagers rob a restaurant to pay for their dream summer break holidays and get away from the bleakness and dulness of the reality. The trip ends up being more than they bargained for when they get arrested and bailed out by a drugs and arms dealer Alien (James Franco) who wants them to work for him.

 Sum-up of what to expect:
  • Interesting concept but extremely poorly executed and excessively overdrawn.
  • Scenes of topless people partying on the beach repeatedly shown for an unidentified reason.
  •  A story about friendship, freedom, peer pressure and self discovery
  • Multiple scenes of teenagers partying recklessly or having sexual intercourse.
  • Characters singing Britney Spears songs together (yes really)
  • Many scenes in which women are marginalised, objectified and presented as nothing more than toys for boys
  • Unrecognizable James Franco who plays a drugs and arms dealer Alien.

Conclusion: A dull film about friendship and self-discovery which demonstrates an extremely stereotypical and delusive portrayal of women and teenagers and lacks any kind of a moral lesson.

  Would I watch it again?No
